TEMPERATURE SENSORS -
THERMOCOUPLES
types of THERMOCOUPLES
One of the factors to consider when choosing metals used in a thermocouple is the temperature range of the application. Common thermocouple types include:
- Type K: Chromel (nickel-chromium alloy) and Alumel (nickel-aluminum alloy). This type is widely used and covers a broad temperature range.
- Type J: Iron and Constantan (copper-nickel alloy). It has a more limited temperature range but lower cost compared to type K.
- Type T: Copper and Constantan. It is popular for low-temperature applications.
- Type E: Chromel and Constantan. It has the highest sensitivity and it suitable for moderate-temperature applications.
