CASE STUDY: GLASS DOME HEATER
A military aircraft manufacturer recently approached Minco with a challenge – heating a glass dome housing an optics system. After reaching out early in the process, the Minco and manufacturer’s engineering teams worked collaboratively to model the thermal performance of various materials. They ultimately arrived at a solution that would meet both physical and electrical requirements, achieving higher yields and ensuring cost effectiveness. Minco engineers worked with the customer team to jointly design a complex integrated product that not only met electrical requirements, but also accurately sensed temperature and provided heat to keep the dome condensation-free. The collaborative solution comprised a multi-layer design that supplied heat to necessary areas along with the traces needed to provide power and communication.
